This 1971 Baltimore Sun article described the formation of the Black Economic Opportunities (BEC) corporation. The article explains that goals of the "biracial corporation:" to garner shareholders to raise capital for community ventures such as a community center and affordable housing development. BEC leadership included an Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG) officer and a mathematician in the base's ballistics laboratory.
