This image shows H. Rap Brown speaking to a group of civil rights protestors in July, 1967 in Cambridge, Maryland: a hotbed of civil rights activity in the 1960s. Later that evening, Brown would be injured and therefore was not able to participate in the action the next day that led to destruction, for which he was later charged and then exonerated. The scheduled 1970 trial in Bel Air, Maryland was based on this charge. However, before the car bombing took place, the judge made a prejudiced comment and the trial moved to Howard County. The state eventually dropped the charges.
